THE OWNERS
Rooster + Hen was founded by us, two rock musicians, Joseph McRedmond and Allison Smith, after moving to Oella and realizing the need for a year round, locally sourced produce and organics business. You know us from the Catonsville Sunday Farmers Market. Allison makes and sells Picnic Pops, and Joe makes and sells Jose Grande's Coffee.
OUR VILLAGE FAMILY
We love our community. We're here for good. The kids are in school here, we live here, we work here, and we play here. We love our neighbors and are overjoyed about creating a meeting place for people to buy their weekly ingredients, flowers, home goods, treats, and prepared meals.
NEARLY NO WASTE
Rooster + Hen is different, because our community is different. We live amongst the river, the trees, the bears (!) and the birds. We are intertwined with our ecosystem, unlike most suburbs. We aren't cookie-cutter, and neither are you. We have looked at all possible sources of trash, food waste, and pollution, and have great ways of reusing, recycling, decomposing, or composting almost everything. Bring your tote bag or take a free one. Put our "plastic" bags in your compost. Show up on bike and get a 5% discount on your total purchase. Buy an ugly vegetable. Join us in helping to keep the Patapsco Valley natural and clean.
PRIVATE EVENTS AND PARTIES
Rooster and Hen is inside a cozy, bright, rustic building that is perfect for private events.
Contact us for booking and catering inquiries. We can provide everything you need for a party of up to 25.
